Open Data platform about violence against women

Context

Women’s rights organizations in Nicaragua publish annual data on gender-based violence and violence against women. They wanted to use the internet to make this data available to organizations, researchers, decision-makers and journalists, and to encourage people to report cases of violence against women online.

Description

Felix Delattre led the project and coordinated a team of designers, data scientists and developers to create an online tool that allows women’s rights organizations in Nicaragua to publish information about femicides, maternal deaths, sexual violence and other forms of violence as Open Data.

Maps are used for visualization and the whole data set can easily be inspected based on a variety of indicators.

The raw data (eventually anonymized) is downloadable and published under an open license (Creative Commons).
